I think it's useful when you are 18, so that you can see that there are other gay people out there. But I don't go anymore. I have no use for it, it's just a bad party these days. However you are referring to an outdated way of thinking that has not been updated by the Zealots in the Vatican for a long time. Think about it... you can take pride in your appearance too. You can take pride in the job you are doing. You can also take pride in yourself. I think that the term Gay Pride is simply a throwback to that where in the past, Gays and Lesbians have been treated as second class and continue to be so along with some minorities. Gay Pride is more a resolution to not be ashamed of being gay as there is NOTHING wrong with it. So I think in this case that it's not a case of narcissism, its a true belief that we are all equal. How dare people chose to judge us based on who we love. Be proud of yourself as a person, have pride in what you believe to be right and most of all be true to yourselves and each other.
