Why can we not have a Gay Rights Protest?
Is not that what we want as being gay is just what we are and the whole pride shame argument just seems silly to me.
Are we not by calling it Pride just shooting ourselves in the foot…The Roman Catholic Church lists pride as the most deadly of the seven deadly sins.
The first google of pride is …a high or inordinate opinion of one’s own dignity, importance, merit, or superiority, whether as cherished in the mind or as displayed in bearing, conduct, etc.
Is this what we what the world to see of us?

its a catch 22 mate, basically you are right that pride is considered a sin. However you are referring to an outdated way of thinking that has not been updated by the Zealots in the Vatican for a long time. Think about it… you can take pride in your appearance too. You can take pride in the job you are doing. You can also take pride in yourself. I think that the term Gay Pride is simply a throwback to that where in the past, Gays and Lesbians have been treated as second class and continue to be so along with some minorities. Gay Pride is more a resolution to not be ashamed of being gay as there is NOTHING wrong with it. So I think in this case that it’s not a case of narcissism, its a true belief that we are all equal.
How dare people chose to judge us based on who we love. Be proud of yourself as a person, have pride in what you believe to be right and most of all be true to yourselves and each other.

I totally agree. I have no use for pride anymore. I think it’s useful when you are 18, so that you can see that there are other gay people out there. But I don’t go anymore. I have no use for it, it’s just a bad party these days.
The Equality Forum is a little better, but still sort of stupid. But at least they have panels and discussions
